"Nothing in science has any value to society if it is not communicated." - Anne Roe 1952

Communication for growers

A big part of my outreach is targeted to Farmers in specialized magazines and local news stations. It is important to understand what kind of diseases their crops can suffer from and what the most sustainable ways are to control them. Taking growers into the conversation about ongoing research and new technologies is key to ensure willingness-to-adapt and built towards a sustainable agriculture.

Talks

Lectures, TED-talks and documentaries are an effective way to reach a broad audience and get people interested in the latest advances in science. I had the opportunity to present my research for a broad audience at the Biotech Day organized by the Flemish Institute for Biotech in 2019 and contributed to a documentary on phage therapy.

Public outreach

Together with Dr. Tiff Mak and Prof. Raka Mitra, I run the MPMI Microgreens podcast. With Microgreens, we aim to tell the story of plants, microbes and the people who study them. Check it out!
